In November 2024, in Petten (The Netherlands), I reconvened the GEMINI 4.0 consortium to share the progress made toward achieving the objectives of our GEMINI 4.0 project: confirming that a GEMINI+ system can safely and efficiently decarbonize various industrial activities through nuclear cogeneration of process steam, electricity, and hydrogen at the required large scale. The meeting was hosted by the
GEMINI 4.0 Summer School 2024: Uniting Industry and Academia on High-Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor (HTGR) Technology. From September 24 to 26, 2024, the GEMINI 4.0 Summer School brought together students, young engineers, and industry representatives to explore High-Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor (HTGR) technology, marking the first European Summer School to include industry participation. This event provided a comprehensive overview of HTGR’s
The agenda to the Summer School in September, has now been finalised. The GEMINI 4.0 partners are looking forward to welcoming its selected participants to this three day occasion to learn about the latest developments within HTGR technology and much more. The Summer School will also be a good opportunity to meet, connect and network with different stakeholders. Download the
The purpose of the event (7-8 November, in Vienna) is to review the activities on the IAEA Nuclear Graphite Knowledge Base (NGKB), to perform the collective quality assurance for new data added to the NGKB, and to plan activities for the next twelve-month period.
The workshop “Nuclear energy beyond electricity” will be held in Warsaw, on September 24, and will address the development of High Temperature Reactors and non-electric applications including process heat and hydrogen production. A technical visit to the MARIA research reactor will be organised on 25 September.
The 20th International Nuclear Graphite Specialist Meeting will take place in the historical city of Bruges (Belgium) and will be hosted by SCK•CEN, the Belgian Nuclear Research Center. It is the continuation of a series of annual conferences that started at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, (Tennessee) in 2000. The most recent editions were held in Vienna (2016), in Baltimore
The 2019 edition of the International Congress on Advances in Nuclear Power Plants (ICAPP) took place in Juan-les-Pins (France), from 12-15 May 2019. On this occasion, the GEMINI+ project was presented by explaining its main goal, expected objectives and impacts to pave the way for an early deployment of industrial nuclear cogeneration in Europe.
